Outside doors - composite

Nov 23, 2010 2 Replies

I'm looking to replace the front door and wondered if anyone has any suggestions/ comments on the various types on offer?

The Composite Door Company suggests around £1150 installed. A local joinery company suggests £600 for a hardwood door. Don't really fancy your typical double glazing company doors, though not really researched.

A pine door is well under =A3100. It would need painting every so many years though.

Engineered door + stainless hinges (3) + trade weathershield primer/ undercoat/gloss + celotex an extra deep frame each side (30-40mm should be possible, 25mm off the shelf cheap at local builders merchants).
