Outlook 2019 - Cleanup

Last month, Outlook threw a wobbly, in that it somehow downloaded a second duplicate copy of every single email still stored on Plusnet's mail server. Thousands of them, how I just don't know.

For ease of use - I have my Inbox divided into multiple folders, with mail sorted into the folders, dependent on the source of the mail. Since then, I have been wondering just how to sort out that mess of duplicates. Yesterday I found it - left click on the folder and a menu pops up, one of the items is Cleanup. That deletes all of the duplicates in one click.

I've seen this with some of Plusnet's mail, but each one of a pair has a different UID, so you'd expect any mail client to download both. Wonder how Cleanup works, though.

Tim Streater submitted this idea :

I always receive the two emails from Plusnet in regards to account matters. Its a peculiarity of their server, which I have yet to fathom.

So do I, one to postmaster@myplusnetusername the other to postmaster@mydomain

[the associated domain was a free-for-life .uk domain offered after one of their f*ck-ups, a data leak I think]
