And no reason why the tool can't be voice activated.

So she must be able to eat and drink or if not, you have to do that and so can do the pills too. Or have the tool voice activated.

CPC was (maybe still is) like that, numbers and letters only as far as I can tell.

I recently also came across a website that would only accept a few characters as 'special', it didn't accept that either / or \ are special characters.

Combine that with an old house where the floorboards have significant gaps between them...

Can't you put the blister pack inside a decent sized jar or similar container that you can put your hand inside so that the pin head pill always ends up in the container ?

It was solved years ago. Use plastic.

Crazy isn't it. Adultproof caps can usually be fixed by adding a screw to connect the 2 parts of the cap.

My wife has quite severe glaucoma and she has to take three different eye drops each day, twice a day.

The drops, as prescibed come in small plastic bottles about 7cm high. The screw caps are set so tight that I can undo them for her only by using a pair of Mole Grips. I do wonder what an elderly widow, living alone does to get them open. Peter

I agree totally. The problem with not having anything but a web form or an email if they can be bothered is that they aare discriminating on those who cannot or choose not to be online. Blind people are a case in point. The learning curve attached to using tech as you get older if you loose your sight is often seen as far too great for many. Thus whatever it is, people vote by not dealing with that company any more, but they cannot do this with Benefits, and this means they have to get somebody else to fill in forms with their personal data, simply because no work around is in existence as the gov think sight loss does not exist, it seems.

I think innit and like are merely habits that people have, and if they knew how annoying it was, they may be able to change it. There do seem to also be a lot of people who are devaluing real swear words by using f*cking this or that, without any meaning other than to use it to indicate annoyance or cos its their habit. I think swear words should be preserved for rants etc, as we are running out of them. Brian

Yes there are many badly designed web sites like the ones you mention. These things can be easily designed out and really end to end testing is what is needed. If folk find it too hard they will cleck away to something else that works. Brian

yes, but why should we have to? If all the pills were the same size, it would help, but making a press for every single blister pack is quite a task

OK I had to take a pair of mle grips to a long life milk cap the other day. The other thing is how can one know if a plastic tray is recyclable. Normally you get an embossed funny graphic, not of much use for us blindies, and nobody bothers and bungs it in the recycling in any case. Bin collectors who take your umpteen wheeli bins, sort of empty them, spilling stuff on the road, then chucking or leaving them all over the place on the footway making it difficult to walk down the footway.

Councils who run consultations that you need to create an account to contribute to only on line, and yet they offer the same questions on paper at libraries. Most never seem to realise that there are some people who do not have an email address either. So we value your opinions, but if you are not on line piss off, is the message we get. Brrian

Some blister pill packs are easy to open but others are a complete PITA.

Makes no sense to require a very expensive call center so that a microscopic handful of blind people can use it.

Just like those with less than perfect english have to do.

I do lots of that with the Turks I know. Even the kids who have spent their entire time in this country in school here have a problem with the fancy language in govt forms with words like spouse etc.

No they don't, they just realise that there is no magic wand to wave.

Unlikely that they care.

But others are free to do what they prefer.

Just not feasible. Lipitor is a f****ng great thing and Cartia isnt.

Can't say I ever have. I do have to use one of those jar lid tools with a couple of brands of marmalade with glass jars and the Polish one I prefer has a very deep lid which the best jar lid tool doesnt work on. Fortunately those are fine with normal hands.

Really doesnt matter if blind people can't recycle.

Some of the anals do.

We aren't that stupid. Just 2 wheelys and the truck is fully automated with just a driver who never gets out of the cab except to put a sticker on the lid of the wheely bin if some dork has fulled it with concrete scrap so its too heavy for the truck bin grabber to pick up.

Because its stupidly expensive to have a call center instead.

Whereas at least one of our councils has just bought some trendy new electric bin trucks... which can't go where some of the bins are:

Another one can't charge them:

That reminds me of an incident when I was working at an Inernation Harvester Assembly plant in Illinois. Whenever our crew was doing welding, the plant's little fire truck was in attendance. We got to be good Friends with the fireman, who never had to do anything, just be ready in case. He was expecting a brand new firetruck, and when the day came, there was a small debris fire, and he rushed off to get his new truck. Which couldn't turn the corner at the end of the aisle.

It's been going on for quite a while - TV programmes where.....

i) they have enough content for 15 minutes but drag it out for an hour by repeating the few facts every 5 minutes for those with a short attention span. Alternatively, introducing a crackpot scheme to how something could be done/constructed and then spending 30 minutes explaining why it was crackpot scheme.

ii) introducing a dramatic false sense of urgency or even danger. Fred is now stuck in traffic on the motorway. Will he get to his destination in time - with his cargo of baked beans to a supermarket open 24 hours a day! Will Joe meet his target in the next few hours???? With minutes to spare he does! However continuity has failed because in those last few hours Joe has found time in the wilderness to have a hair cut and change his shirt :)

iii) having celebrities or experts commenting on what you are about to watch. Usually with program titles such as the 10 most funny/embarrassing/popular/etc. moments on TV. Those commenting in great detail on the 15 minutes of real content, in a 2 hour programme, pretend to have remembered it from 20/30/40 years ago but in reality you can tell that they were played the clip minutes before.

iv) programmes that start off appearing to be serious but after 10 minutes the (same) experts a wheeled out to prove it was aliens that constructed the pyramids etc. As Al Murray once commented - in the USA if someone sees something they cannot explain it must be aliens - in Britain people are prepared to admit when they are pissed.

v) The prefix "new" added to repeats. Worse is when they re-edit a previously broadcast programme to add a lot more human interest or sob story. A case in point is the BBC Repair shop. Now a lot more of the back story and much less showing of the repairs, then attach the word "new" in the EPG to pretend that it is a first showing. Yes, a first showing of the extended back story but not of the repair bit where most of it has been edited out.

It is shown on a repeats channel such as 'Dave', and because it's the first time it's on that channel, it's "New". And yes, there was a job where somebody repaired an old Pinball machine, and it went from the dismantlement stage to the completely repaired stage with hardly any of the actual repair work being shown.

No daytime TV other than News watched here and my evening viewing is cycling through Netflix offerings on my daughter's account:-)
