Some of the posts make my apprentices look smart.

  1. A picture of a lost and found driving licence asking if anyone knows where the owner lives.

  1. A post from a VM user asking about is anyone else is having VM internet problems in the area and the first reply was "my PlusNet" is OK.

  2. "Anyone lost a wheelchair?" Just seen one on Soso road. It's badly rusted with a wheel missing

I do find that no matter where the post is, people do not read them correctly before wading in. Its the same thing as the way we all click through terms and conditions on sites I suppose. I often say to people that if you can see, your brain gets lazy and only reads what it expects to see, not what is actually there. Brian

An old boy on Youtube says at a college where he taught, black students on the Electrical Installation course had a very high drop out rate.

Initially they made up half the class but by the start of the 3rd year were down to 5 or 10% and not all those passed the year's exam.

Is this typical or an extreme example? This is his video:

"Academic underachievement by black British pupils at FE college"

Not colour related but a group of 4 students wanted 24 magnets each. I bought 100 (sold in packs of 50) and told then to split them up amonst themselves.

Yes they are small 2mm diameter by 1mm thin magnets

Yesterday one student came to me saying but I have only been given 19 can you order another 50.

I't s my fault I shouldn't have trusted four 3rd year elec eng/computer science students doing a robotics course to share 100 magnets out between themselves equally when they need 24 each.

We must be under represented by blacks in South Yorkshire as there are not enough of them to make up half a classroom:-)

Of the two worse apprentices we have had - one was black and lived in a rough estate, the other was white and came from a very middle class background.

Both very polite well mannered young men that always were on time.

Both as thick as pig shit.

Did they really want 24 magnets each or did you tell them that they each needed 24 magnets for the next assignment?
