OT: Kenwood chef gearbox "gasket"

Anyone replaced the grease a Kenwood chef? It looks like there is some sort of "gasket" compound where the two halves of the gearbox casing join - any idea where I can get some?

Thanks, Paul DS.

Halfords. Red hermatite or similar.

Not grease, but I got good service from "Portmicks Kenwood Chef Spares" when I bought a reclaimed motor from him last year.

Yes. Check the motor capacitor too, they fail after a few decades 8-)

Re-assembly is the reverse of dismantling. Use some Hylomar (the blue stuff) to seal.

Silicone bath or kitchen sealant should also be OK, if you have some to hand. Make sure faces are grease-free.

I'm wary of getting silicone sealant, the type that gives off acetic acid during curing, as it rots aluminium.

Use non corrosive silicone

If a gasket is required, you can buy gasket paper
