He says he didn't get a notification of the court date at all and was anyway working away in the very north od Scotland solidly for several weeks. He did get a letter asking him how he wished to plead to the offense and replied with a guilty.
If doesn't know which of the three more recent times he was caught, resulted in him doing the speed awareness course, but says he did the course from home via a video link and just before he found out he was banned. He didn't do the course, then pick up another speeding ticket.
All three times, he was caught by mobile speed traps.
