Although they can continue to drive while the application is being approved as long as nothing else has changed!

Did mine a couple of weeks ago online on a Sunday. It arrived the following Wednesday.

I made the mistake of admitting I still had the old licence so had to cut it up and post it to them. It took them eleven weeks to open the envelope and send me the new one.

Having succeeded in renewing on-line on the previous three occasions it failed to work this time despite using three different browsers on two different operating systems. It seemed to fail at the get-passport stage although the passport was renewed on-line successfully less than two years ago.

I originally thought there may be trouble at the passport office end but you and others have been OK.

I just promised that I would cut it up. Still got it.

Worked fine for me using Firefox on my ancient XP which does everything I need. I've not held a passport for over 30 years so I skipped that one.

That didn't make any difference to my renewal. I still had around three months left on my old licence when I applied for a new licence. It arrived within a few day AND THEN I cut up my old licence and posted it back to them.
