How long will it last?

My previous shredder was £23 & lasted 5 years. The current one was £36. I prefer to invest in durable stuff instead of buying cheap disposable junk, but the problem with appliances is that it's hard to tell until it's too late.

Won't the thermal cut-out pause it for you?

this is just the "auto feed" switch. There's an ON/OFF on the front panel.

Adam Funk put finger to keyboard:

Yeah, it's very annoying to find out you've bought *expensive* disposable junk :-(

I thought you mean the "auto feed" switch!

Difficult to predict. They give,IIRC, a two year warranty and ten years on the cutter head.

We have used them at work where they regularly process 1000 sheets/day and so far (touch wood) no breakdowns over two years. Previous models are still working at 10 years old.

We need robust shredders because they get hammered day in, day out. I must say though that recent models feel more fragile than the older ones.

Sounds like you've found a winner.
