I found a plastic container of Oregon chainsaw oil in my shed. I'd guess it is at least 20yrs old. Any reason I shouldn't use it?

I'd be happy to use it on a chain saw. If it has degraded, the usual process would be oxidation which causes darkening and may make it slightly acid. If the colour is still fairly normal (golden syrup?) it is probably fine. If it is dark (molasses / treacle) it may be oxidised but I still wouldn't worry as the life of chains and sprockets is going to be limited by wear, not corrosion. I'm assuming it "looks" OK and still pours. If it has had water in it there may be sludge in the bottom from bacterial activity, just discard anything which doesn't look like oil.

It is chainsaw bar oil and not chainsaw two stroke?
