Looks like we dodged that bullet...
Yes, but Trump should have some fun with him as Foreign Secretary!
They have a lot in common. Vanity. Totalitarianism. Bad haircuts.
Not anymore, he is now the foreign secretary
You are completely wrong about that bit in brackets
Better than a tent full of Emin's cast offs.
But his protégé got DESNZ
who was that?
Miatta Fahnbulleh
Yeah. Looked her up. Oxford PPE and a PhD from the LSE so a raving communist really.
I wonder if she can rise above her programming. The brains seem to be there.
If they can remotely control heat pumps then they can use the same technology to see what other electrical gubbins you have at home, like an EV for example.
Transferring all that 'lost' fuel duty+20%vat onto the electric bill then becomes a possibility. Only a matter of time ....
Don't forget anything left of Farage politics Trump considered to be communism.
Simply have a sliding scale for big users
Why not? I already export battery power and reduce my consumption at times of peak grid stress and get rewarded financially for doing so.
I imagine many folk will be happy to accept a discounted tariff or other reward to take part in something that will almost certainly be unnoticeable in practice. As heat pump system are usually set up to heat the whole house and to maintain a constant temperature, the inertia of house will easily tide it over an hour without heating.
Entirely predictable reaction by TNP though.
Tim
If I turned off my heat pump for an hour the effect on house temperature would be negligible. Power companies are looking for very short term methods of reducing grid demand, not long term ones.
Tim
True, but most heat pumps are internet connected to allow remote control via an app. You then just need to allow your power company access to your log in credentials. I don’t imagine that they would “turn them down”. For short term grid balancing it’s more likely they’ll just turn them off for an hour.
My power company already has access to my EV charging and home battery. I wouldn’t have a problem allowing them some control of my heat pump too.
Tim
They wouldn’t be able to control it without you giving consent and access to your log in details for your heat pump so no need to worry about it if you don’t want to take part.
Tim
Except that Spike’s suggestion is absurd.
Tim
As is yours. Typical grant snorting, virtue signalling lefty
I di9dnt react by the way. I merely copied and pasted something interesting
