If you remove the fuse, will this not mean the windows will not then open at all?

Hmm. The panel they indicate (on the driver's side?) has nothing behind it - just more plastic. The panel on the passenger side says "airbag". Should I open that?

There are fuses in at least three places under the bonnet. One says Blah blah P/WDW. But it's a weird combination fuse. Like three fuses sharing a common rail. Pull one, then you pull all 3.

That works for me until it can be investigated further.

Maybe it's just a breaking/broken switch.

IME the purpose of each fuse if generally shown on the underside of the fusebox cover panel. That is where to look for the fuse function. You will not be the first person to search for these locations so resources will be avail, get googlin. I'd suggest Nissan Leaf Fuse Box locations.

It it an air bag warning sign warning you not to have a child seat attached to your passenger seat.

This is a wide overview of the BCM, showing a number of fuses at the top, and how many things feed off it. The window controls are on the upper right.

At one time, manuals were paper and bound, and for one hundred fifty at the time of the purchase of a car, you could buy the shop manual, complete with fold out electrical diagrams.

The above seem to be extracted from some electronic documentation. The package downloaded, had portions of different cars.

But at least you can see it's not like an ICE "boat" from the seventies, with the windows each sitting off the fuse, pull the fuse and it was dead.

The control seems to be a lot more ambitious than that. disconnecting the two motor wires on the window motor. might stop it, as long as the gearing on the motor prevents slippage. Otherwise, anyone can just pry the window down and jump in.

Thanks for the links and info. What were they thinking when systems are designed like this? Far too complicated! I guess that's why Nissan want £150+ to diagnose what's wrong.

One of the Essex Ford main dealers want £100 just to hook-up the diagnostic machine to the OBD port and they want the customer to accept this fee before they will even attempt to diagnose a fault.

Daylight robbery! I swapped out the window switch block with one from a breaker for £20. Seems to work now. So that's £150 that the Nissan dealer isn't going to get.
