Newsgroup server thingy

Jan 09, 2011 7 Replies

Hi

My PC finally died hence the recent postings via Google Groups.

After much help from that very nice Mr Rumm and a bit of Sherlock Holmes detective work, a new CPU tower is now installed with Windows Live as my e mail client.

Whats the address of the server for newsgroups? I tried news.blueyonder.co.uk but it don't not work.

Or can I use another one?

Dave

try news.virginmedia.com

Thanks thats the one.

I have just uninstalled Live Mail 2011, as I couldn't get it to quote properly, it doesn't seem to have an option for indenting the previous messages with a > - so I have switched to Thunderbird.

Not the best, but it works well *enough*.

My mail client of choice as well.

Its in the FM for you ;-)

You can use a free one, or a paid for one, but you probably can't use another ISPs one since they probably bar access from IP addresses outside of their own.

I also noticed yesterday that

seems to be a duplicate of the usenet feed presented as "forums". I hadn't spotted that before. Anyone know anything about it?
