Networking Query :)

Following on from my OwnCloud query yesterday (which I'd previously installed 12+ months back) and having successfully remembered ubuntu user name and password, logged in only to find that Ubuntu (server)

13.04 can't update to 14.04 and won't automatically do a 13.10 so once more is verging on the dormant side as my linux knowledge is limited to copying commands from the internet (or starting fresh)... but that's a job for another night now...

Back onto the main query... I have some spare IP addresses on my zen account at home and thought I could set the home router 172.16.1.1 to point and open ports 80 and 443 to the owncloud machine in the shop which is 192.168.0.2 via VPN but alas 'tis not to be. The Ubuntu/owncloud box/server is accessible from any machine on either network but the outward facing IP address at home just doesn't like to forward to a different subnet via VPN..

So from any networky types out there am I attempting a routing impossibility or is there a chance that setting a static route or some other twerkaround at home could circumvent the initial routing obstacles? Routers are Draytek 2930 at home and 2910 at work.

Obviously setting up the server at home is an instant solution but I don't have space to locate the current machine anywhere handy so would end up starting completely from scratch... (Still an option)

This is one of those "learning" projects where you spend 100's of hours doing something that a clued up person would do in minutes or known was impossible... but that's how my DIY goes. :)

TIA Pete@

And support of non-LTS releases is only 9 months now, so you only have 3 months from the next one being released to the previous one being out of support.
