We bought a house a year ago, after a good survey. The house which borders our drive was then sold. The new owners’ survey report identified that our drive is above the double row of blue bricks on their exterior wall, therefore causing damp in their house. The drive has been there 30 plus years and the water does runaway from their house. We have cut back the slabs, dug out to below the blue bricks then filled the trench with gravel. A builder friend said this was fine. Now our neighbours are talking about the legality of what we’ve done What should we do? We did discuss this as an option with our neighbours and they never came back to us so we did the work as an act of goodwill. The problem is not of our making but we acknowledge that the problem source is our side.
