Nail gun that goes bang/whirr/bang/whirr ... ?

Jun 18, 2008 3 Replies

Only heard , not seen, the builder nextdoor using this nail/cartridge gun. I asked his apprentise/ gofor, later on, but he didn't know. Whirr sounded like a small motor, what make/type of gun would it have been? Motor pumping up a gas chamber, like an airgun, so no cartridges as such ?

Probably one of these.

builder's using one at the moment. The whirr is a cooling fan that runs for a few seconds after every nail.

go whirr-bang......whirr-bang - as the battery-powered motor draws bang the the heavily spring loaded firing bolt just before each shot.

(which is a slight PITA as there's a delay to fire every time you press the trigger).

The whirr noise is the apprentice whining why he has to be the one holding the nails. The bang is the application of the hammer by the builder. Ocasionally you may even hear a scream, but not if local ladies are present....
