Main reason for asking is that i'm struggling to find something suitable.

So circa 2HP? yes
A contactor for no volt release plus an overload relay plugged in the bottom of the contactor and just set to your selected trip current
There might be some app notes there for the basic setup for the start & stop + emergency stop push buttons and how to latch the contactor
What is the starting current and is it within design limits under load. if not then what you do need is some kind of pulsed duty cycle starter of some kind from memory. Brian
Hmm so I suspect that is how to protect things but not actually starting it very well. May be wrong of course. Brian
A 240v single phase motor should be fully integral with regards to starting at that power level (centrifugal switch, capacitor for phase shift on the starter windings)
Control: Live via a normally open pushbutton to energise the coil on the contactor, auxillary normally open contact on contactor wired across start switch to latch the start control
Normally closed stop switch in series fron the other side of the coil on the contactor back to neutral (add a normally closed emergency stop switch in series if reguired)
Motor Feed: Live and neutral to a pair of contacts on the contactor
The other side of the contactor contacts go via the overload relay to the motor
Millions of them in service essentially set up like that
or for cheap and "ok"
