We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold. I remember Matty F saying something like:
It's certainly got windbags.
At least one person has pointed out that half a million cyclists in Copenhagen could generate enough electricity to save the fossil fuel used by... wait for it... SIX average Danes.

I spent about 15 years working for Danish companies. The conclusion I draw is that they are a naition of f*****ts.
The ratio of cyclists to folks is not all surprising.
When you really do the sums you'll see the ratios for lots of other ECO-daft things are similar. Prof. Mackay's excellent book all available foc shows this and more:
