More grease/cleaning questions - different

Just spotted the earlier topic but my question is a little different. I'm about to decorate the kitchen - all the walls are fully tiled but I need to paint the ceiling. I believe you can get some special paint for kitchens because it has to stand up to steam and grease, but how do you degrease the existing ceiling so that you can put the new paint on?

I'm assuming that it will need degreasing as a deep-fat fryer has been used in there at least once, maybe twice a week and it's been a couple of years since it was last decorated.

Thanks

Flash and a long handled scrubber.

Star Drops - easy to 'rinse' and much less diluted in the bottle than most other similar cleaners.

There's a 'review' here

mainly gives a lot of info. about use, including using it neat for grease. It's only about 70 - 90p a bottle and, for just general cleaning of paint and floors, about 1/3 of a bottle will easily do a 3-bed semi (walls, ceilings, painted furniture, kitchen etc.

Is that the one with a slight ammonia smell?

no, sort of - the bottles about 10 years old and might have lost ammonia, but I don't recollect it ever smelling like that.

BTW, bought a can of Brasso last week, as my 2 cans of metal polish had dried up. Took off the top for a nostalgia-inducing sniff and just got ammonia! After spluttering and wiping eyes, still couldn't remember Brasso having ammonia in it (but hadn't used it for about 40 years).
