I need a pump to move cold water around a machine. The water is in a tub in a freezer I have made some holes in. Currently I have a submersible pump in the tub but being overkill for my needs it gets warm and warms the water.
The flow need is little more than a trickle, it can be submersible if it not likely to get warm during use or external.
Anyone recommend anything?
Windscreen washer pump? You used to be able to get them seperately from the tanks that they tend to be built into now.
You don't say what power supply you wish to use or may have available or what duty cycle you need. A car windscreen washer pump may be suitable but might not like continuous duty, a decent model shop may stock pumps intended for use in model submarines. OTHO it might just be as easy to get a ready made condensate pump from a refrigeration specialist or supplier. Those bottle cooling units you see in pubs often have them and there is usually a firm in an area who maintain such things listed in yellow pages etc.

High flow pump, run intermittently. If you need a continuous low flow rate, pump into a header tank (a float switch might be useful for the control) and then use a gate or neeedle valve to control the delivered flow rate.
Cheap pumps like this, with long lifespan ratings, are available cheaply from desktop ornamental fountains and cat water dishes - especially if you recycle via car boot sales or charity shops.
Continuous low flows are well suited to peristaltic pumps, which would be easy to make.

A peristaltic pump might do it, if the flow is adequate. They provide a very precise calibrated flow.
