Loctite on 3D printer build

I have bought a 3D printer (Ender3 Pro).

Looking at YouTube videos looks like there is quite a bit of assembling involved .

Now with RC buggies etc, when putting metal screws into metal a dab of Loctite (other threadlock is available) is used but as there is a lot less (hopefully :O) ) vibration involved in a 3D printer do the screws require this same loctiting (Wd?) or is that overkill or in fact detrimental?

If you put Loctite or superglue anywhere near the sort of plastic used to make 3D printers then plastic rot ensues.

You shouldn't need to do anything except make sure ALL nuts and bolts are tight.

I was thinking more of the case where screws go into aluminium extrusions, that sort of thing. I would never use loctite on plastic parts.

That's pretty much what I thought, it's just that being a newbie I thought it better to ask than assume .

Learnt by bitter experience:

  1. Don't assume pre-assembled extruders have been correctly assembled. The idler wheel on mine had no washer and couldn't rotate.

  1. Most useful tool is a set of feeler gauges, 0.35mm an absolute must.

Good luck

Sorry to hear that. Hope it wasn't too painful to sort extruSIONS not extruDERS

Was thinking of using a bit of paper (folded or card) for bed leveling but a few have said use feeler gauges so will probably invest in a set . Amazon or son (who is a mechanic and has a 'tool truck' come to his work.[ Or the wages removal truck as he calls it]).

Cheers

Edit :- Amazon ones are so cheap (didn't realise they COULD be that cheap) son may well have promotional ones, shall have a convo with him.

Nope. ExtruDER. The bit that pushes the filament to the hot end. It consists of a drive wheel and an idler (pinch) wheel.

I've found the best type of bed is the peel-off magnetic type. If you're over-enthusiastic with the adhesion it can be a bugger to remove the print from the bed. With the magnetic type you remove the magnetic layer and peel that off from the print.

Right I get it I was talking about screwing into aluminium extruSIONS. Whilst you were making a completely different point about extruDERS. Easy to see how misunderstandings arise.
