You can never have too many ladders of different lengths, useful to leave them in place, I've bought many from the local auctions, they're sprinkled around the house and roof.

Yep. I had something very similar when we had a garden full of tall hedges which I cut to cut myself.
P.S. "Niwaki" is the name for the style of pruned trees you see all over Japan;

The guy who runs it is married to a Japanese lady and has lived there in the past, I believe.
I have something similar. Horses for courses, not as rigid as a "proper" ladder but great if you need to transport it in a car. I certainly use mine around the house in places that my "outside" one won't readily fit.
