Kitchen worktop problem

Jan 01, 2013 5 Replies

Hi all

I've seen a number of posts about people having problems with kitchen worktop a bubbling at joints and the likely problem being water getting into the joint. Also from what I can see the only solution seems to be replacement.

The question I have though is that I only moved into this house 3 months ago and it was a brand new build so the kitchen and worktops were fitted by the builders. Would it be reasonable for this to be happening already or would you class this as not having been sealed properly when fitted?

Many thanks

It shouldn't happen at all, let alone after 3 months. Get the builders back in.

Just heading towards this job... so what sealant should I use?

I have use several coats of water resistant PVA on the cut edges which I happened to have handy.

Also run some more into the joints during/after assembly.

Still OK after around seven years.
