Kitchen installation, electrics query - certification....

Following the installation of a new kitchen & aplliances, replacement cooker cable, new lighting, switches, sockets etc etc a friend is being told by the "fitter" that no certification is required as the electrical works are "minor"..

What chapter & verse(s) should they be using to ensure the required paperwork is forthcoming? And what would be the correct paperwork?

If the "fitter" is unable to supply appropriate paperwork, what avenues are available to the householder to correct the situation? (Excepting the "deny all knowledge when selling up" option)

TIA

I have my suspicions ! :-)

Given the list of items what *should* they have paperwork -wise?

What can they realistically do if the "fitter" cannot acquire the correct paperwork?

Cheers

Why are there more posts visible on Google gropes than on giganews??

They should request an electrical installation completion certificate as a minimum.

Not if it is minor works, just a minor works certificate is required.

More than one minor works certificate will be required:-)

It is possible the fitter is mixing up Part P notification with basic electrical certificates.

Now it could be a mistake on his part or he could be lying through his teeth when he says no certification is needed.

If all the work was in the kitchen, using existing cirtuits, such as just a new cable from the cooker isolation switch, might it not just be minor work? Are kitchens still obligatory Part P?

It depends if they want to cause him trouble.
