karcher pressure washer

I am having a problem with my pressure washer which has been getting progressively worse. When you first pressed the trigger, the spray jet pulses as the motor goes on and off. After a little while of keeping the trigger pressed it runs continuously as normal. If you let go of the trigger and then press it again, this cycle starts again. The time between pressing the trigger and the unit operating normally has been getting longer and longer.

Does anybody have any idea what might be causing this?

Cheers Bob

I had this with mine once, but can't remember exactly what cured it in the end! It's symptomatic of either not enough water getting to the pump (the machine panics and shuts down till enough water is present, fractionally later, then turns itself on again - hence the oscillation) or of a blockage somewhere in the high pressure side (so the pressure rises too high, and again the machine panics).

I phoned a Karcher tech helpline - can't remember where I got the number, probably the instructions or the Karcher website, and they were fairly helpful, so worth a try? I remember they warned me about ensuring my feeder hose reel was fully unwound, and did not have an 'autostop' hozelock connector on, which apparently confuses the pressure sensor.

My bet is on a blockage somewhere!

Try unblocking the business end of the lance with a pin/drill/fuse wire etc. This did it for me!
