MDF may be the better choice these days. A lot of timber I've seen seems have warped badly since it was factory planed.
A fancy description but, at the end of the day, it's still a honeycomb core faced with hardboard pressed into a panelled shape and given a mock wood grain. It's still perfectly ok, but don't get the idea that it's more solid than it really is.

You won't need a fire door in front of that - a bog standard door will be fine.
Hardboard vintage radio backs are usually trashed by now. Will these doors go the same way?
The rigid honeycomb core gives them a certain amount of impact resistance, but you can still damage them if you try hard enough.
Yeah. I was wondering if they'll trash themselves without anyone touching them. Hardboard tends to do that.
My parents have 6 of those sort of doors (although half width) dividing their through room in two. They were fitted about 40 years ago and are still fine.
