I check and log my smart meter's readings, every Sunday morning. Gas, electric, water and then feed the reading into a spread sheet, which then calculates the cost of each for the week, based on unit cost, standing charges. Works out the total for the lot, for the week. It then tries to predict the likely annual costing.

We decided the extra 17p was affordable :-)
It is down by around 15% on last year at this time, despite price increases.
Looks about right, taking my last 12 months readings I have.
1 x £41 1 x £39 3 x £36 3 x £34 1 x £32 2 x £23 (on hols) 1 x £29So not much variance between months, 6 of the months within £2 of each other.
