How much is a garage worth..?

Dec 04, 2004 6 Replies

I have a spare garage which is in a block of garages on a housing development. Its a typical concrete block garage with an up n over door, big enough for a car and some storage and is freehold. I havent a clue how much to ask for it though,,,can anyone suggest any ball park figures based on personal experience..??

Depends near entirely on the location - as with houses. In Central London etc could be worth 100 grand. In the middle of nowhere, who knows?

Ask your local estate agent

Where is it?

In rural Essex it would fetch 2,500 or so. If it is near me I would be interested !

On that crappy Homes Under the Hammer they auctioned one last week for around £3000.00

The guy who bought it was trying to buy the whole block to redevelop the site but mentioned someone who bought any that were for sale normally and had something like 100,000 garages rented out... ;-)

A variation on what everyone else has said. Do Ask more then one estate agent for a valuation, if its in central London could be as much as a small house up north, if it _IS_ up north on/near a LA estate ive got an out of date packet of chrisps to swop.

OTOH, if it's Fowey in Cornwall, it's worth £20K.
