Hot water

How do think I feel. I have wired up over 200 of them in the last 18 months. Quite often they are up and running via a plug by the time I arrive. It is not unusual for the plumber to have "replaced" the top screws with 1 1/2 inch 8 screws.

I understand W-B has Ali heat exchangers rather than SS. Is this not a problem in the later condensing boilers.

I am thinking of replacing my existing gloworm fuelsaver with a W-B, The handbook says 600mm clearance from opposing wall. My current boiler flue exausts into an alley between houses of about 800mm. Could a replacement do the same, or would I require a plume management kit to discharge the flue above the roof level?

Fit a Remeha Broag Avantaplus. Nothing touches it. Fit the outside weather compensator temp sensor.

What do you mean the "later" condensing boilers? The W-B designs use some sort of silicon-passivation of the Ali so I assume (hope!) they've got it sorted.

That would be permissible (the W-B installation manuals - available online - say 600mm from wall or boundary). Depending on whether the alleyway is used at all and who uses it, I'd consider a plume management kit to avoid nuisance pluming.

I have same gripe with the Keston.

At least the Keston is an automatic valve, so you can in theory leave it unscrewed for a few days, and then take the casing off again and screw it shut. (In practice, after first bleeding, the force of the pump seems strong enough to blow further bubbles out of the heat exchanger.)
