GRP flat roof comments please

We have a GRP balcony, and it has been fine for about 7 years now.

Can't remember the supplier - if I find the papers I will give the details.

Also a more simple GRP roof on the room over the garage - this is just GRP matting over exterior ply but it seems to be doing O.K. I replaced the ceiling recently and the underneath of the roof looked fine.

IMHO much better that the traditional roofing felt.

P.S. if it is done properly it shouldn't split - there would be a lot of unhappy sailors otherwise.

I am thinking of spending quite a lot of money on a new GRP flat roof for my garage/balcony and would welcome comments, good or bad on this system. A pal of mine says he has read bad reports of splitting etc - can anybody confirm or deny this?

Specifically I am intending to place an order with The Flatroof Company

for their 'Tuffdeck' system. I would welcome comments from anyone with experience of this company.

I await comments with keen anticipation....

They make boat and cars out of the stuff, the material is 100% when done corectly, of cource if you have an idiot fit it your roof may still leak.

Hi,

Does the guarentee include the edging and where it joins the existing property?

Also it would be intersting to know what weight of mat or roving they use in the fibreglass layer and/or how thick the fibreglass is.

cheers, Pete.
