Hi all. I need to buy a petrol grass trimmer for our fruit farm in the philippines...as you do. We have about a hectare of land that is being maintained by a local feller (unsurprisingly). The wife tells me its cheaper to buy one here and take it with me on next trip..in January probably. What should I be looking for? eg horse-power, tank capacity, power rating etc.

What you're looking for is called a "brush cutter".
Buy one with a straight shaft, not curved, of a make with a spares presence in the Phillipines.
I have a Fuji "Robin", with which I am pleased. It has the easiest to start 2 stroke engine of any I've ever used.
Get a goat or some sheep
Proably is, but make sure you can get spares, line/blades & service locally. You need a world brand - Stihl or similar.
