What they had on the diesel buses here, was an "acceleration profile" feature, to prevent the drivers from knocking standing passengers off their feet.

To defeat the acceleration profile (when it was first installed), the drivers used to do a "brake stand" with the bus. Stand on both the brake and accelerator, release brake, to make bus take off in an abrupt manner.

But the drivers eventually stopped doing that, and just drove the bus normally.
