Turn anti-clockwise for the display to be Celsius and clockwise for Fahrenheit?

The russians do in fact have one that works well Kamov Ka-50 "Black Shark"

It blows off the rotor blades before the ejector seat fires.

The video is interesting but no use for you.

But would work well with HomeKit so you can ask siri what the temperature is and tell it to set it to a partiicular temperature.

HomeKit is vastly better.

Only the navigator's ejector seat. The pilot and co pilot have normal ejector seats.

Still not really very suitable for a chopper given that you often need to eject quite close to the ground. Much better to blow the rotor blades off first.

It is a Samsung RB36T602E and despite having separate controls for Fidge temp and Freezer temp it states that it is MONO cooling. As best as I can work out from the specs it simply has a single compressor/condensor/evaporator. I have to say that this is somewhat misleading as it means the temperatures of the Fridge and Freezer are not independent. Maybe altering the fan/air circulation can make some adjustment. Wouldn't most folk assume that "independent" settings for Fridge and for Freezer meant two motors etc?

I'll have to play with the effect of changing one on the temp of the other.

I have a new fridge (not a Samsung), and it has one tiny compressor and two fans. The freezer fan runs if the freezer should be colder. The milk section fan runs if that section should be colder. This means the fridge has two sensors, and they are probably not the traditional absorption sensor thermostats.

The fridge has a microprocessor, and it will occasionally (on purpose) run a cycle where neither fan runs. This is intended to heat up the top of the compressor, where the defrost liquid beaker sits. If the evaporation rate of the beaker is not high enough, it would overflow on the floor. They use a beaker, instead of the nice large open pan design a traditional refrigerator would use.

It's because of that microprocessor, that the fridge is "moody" and it has hours of the day where "it's a fridge", but it also has a few hours where it "mopes" and "seems depressed". If you leave the door open, the compressor won't start. Firmware bug ? No. And it's not the defrost cycle, because you can hear the sizzling during defrost (the usual resistive heater). The moody behavior is not around defrost time. And like a traditional fridge, the compressor is locked out during defrost.

The refrigerant gas in the fridge, is flammable. Some early fridges of this type, exploded and required your kitchen to be redecorated :-) This is one of the reasons the "amount of liquid" in the loop, is a lot smaller than it used to be. It's a good reason to use a small compressor.

When the delivery guys brought it off the truck, you could tell they'd been instructed "do NOT drop it on the ground", for fear a leak would develop. It was like a delivery from the bomb squad :-)

No, some time ago I had the misfortune to use one of these. It was a frost free variety that froze and a separate fan that blew cold air into the fridge compartment.

I now buy separates and if necessary stack them.

Is returning it an option? Did you buy online?

That was just the Vulcan; on Victor and Valiant the rest of the crew exited via the side entrance door. (I had a spell on Valiants.)

Bought in store. Despite all I don't think SWMBO would want separates, and we do have a stand-alone under-counter freezer though as a spare.

I'm more annoyed that I was sucked into all the implications of it being better than it actually is and the perceived abiltiy of running the two compartments as required.

Now I've sorted that the digital settings are fiction I now have them to provide the desired temperatures. Hopefully the Frost Free and Auto-defrost will work without user intervention.

No. I am used to the compressor/cooling system being applied to the freezer only. Then I am used to the fridge being cooled by a fan and motorised flap, circulating air from the freezer, through the fridge and back to the freezer. The fridge temperature can be set separately and the fridge will start/stop/modulate the airflow to ensure the correct fridge temperature, while the freezer will start or stop the compressor to maintain the correct freezer temperature. Two independent settings, one compressor.

Why is it a misfortune. I have found that they work and a pretty reliable - suffering only an easily fixable, temperature probe failure.

Two separate machines actually have more parts to fail.

I remember reading that there was a big fuss about the rest of the Vulcan crew not having the same protection as the pilots. I always though that was unfair criticism, as the rest of the crew might be more likely to bail out well before a crash, while the pilots might stay to try and save the aircraft and so be more likely to need to exit rapidly if it all went wrong.

Thanks - that explains the blurb about the air circulation system which I had interpreted differently. The old fridge/freezer it replaced didn't have any such "sophistication". The whole thing was either cooler or less cool.

Yes, mine currently shows a setting of -18°C for the freezer and 4°C for the fridge. Two independent thermometers have shown that the freezer temperature is pretty accurate, but the fridge can be a couple of degrees out. Mostly though, the fridge hovers around 5°C.

Mine varies depending won where I place the thermoeter. Even more confusing was when I used one of those 'laser' guns, back of the freezer 10C colder than the front. Top and bottom too.

I wish I had on of those thermnal imaging cameras I could have hours of fun with one of those :-)

Thermal cameras can be fooled in the same way as those contactless thermometers with the laser pointers :) Surface emissivity and IR reflections can produce some unexpected results.

Is the built in digital freezer thermometer measuring the instantaneous temperature or is it performing some averaging function?
