Advice please on laying floor tiles in a small bathroom, in a bungalow.
The bathroom currently has laminate wood flooring over floorboards. What's the right way to prepare the surface? Obviously I will remove the laminate flooring, but do I also need to remove the existing floorboards?

Not a sensible way of laing floor tiles, due to th bounce in the floorboards. IMHO you would be best screwing down down half inch marine plywood then tiling the floor
What type of tiles are they?
Why are you thinking of removing the floorboards ... are they in poor condition?

I was wondering whether I needed to remove the floorboards to reduce floor movement. Or can I screw plywood over exisiting floor boards, then tile over?

ITYM WBP plywood. Marine ply would cost a fortune, and is totally unnecessary.
Yeah but if they were cork etc then half inch would probably be overkill.

With thick ply well screwed down movement should not be a problem. However, the loss of skirting etc might need to be considered and any finishing off of floor levels through doorways might be an issue too.

IME most supply places are well aware of this common mistake and will quietly sell you WBP when you ask for Marine Ply. Can make it hard to find 'real' marine ply.
FWIW, WBP is just water and boiling water temperature resistant. Marine ply is specially selected to have no interior voids or joins in the veneers, since in a boat the pressure is applied all over it. You don't really need that for most WBP uses.
Marine ply costs about twice as much as WBP (£85 for a sheet of 12mm)
