Flexi-Pipe connection query.

Right, I unpacked my EMWC Water softner and dug out all my bits. As I Originally pumbed the hose in 22mm right through I declined the "inclusive" 15mm connector kit and took the full-bore 22mm stainless pipes. So I need a couple of rubber washers to connect the 90 degree ends to the plastic 22mm spigot(?) or of the Softner but am stumped as to what I need to connect the other end of the stainless braided pipe to a 22mm copper tail. The end in question has a flat face, the sort of end that would typically connect to a flat faced tap side like a washing machine tap etc except it's bigger. The nut is slightly smaller than a regular 22mm compression fitting so am at a loss as to what to mate it up with.

Hopefully my random descriptions will mean something to somone with more of a clue.

I already have 22mm full bore taps plummed to the pipework for softner bypass.

The local plumbers merchan was closed when I came past to the shop this morning as I was going to pop in. I can't find anything on screwfix web site and the local screwfix counter has no catalogues at all as they are having new ones tomorrow.

I wanna get it sorted and plumbed in before I lose momentum on this job. :¬)

Any chance of some pics so we see what you speak of.?

I knew that was coming and was thinking I should have taken some pics when I went out the door.

I will have to see if I can get a picture.

It's like a flexible tap connectore with 2 tap connector ends rather than one tap connector and one compression fitting. I think that's the best way to describe it.

So, like a shower hose?

That sound right.

But bigger. 22mm size So I'm trying to connect what am guessing is a tap connector end to a 22mm copper tail rather than a tap and a normal

22mm compression fitting thread is a shade too big.

mine did and the picture and details on the EMWC website show them. Have a look at:

you'll see the kit has two blue handled valve, the "inlet" and "outlet" valves in EMWC speak. One side of those is 22mm compression and the other is just right for the flexible hoses, complete with washers.

Ah ha. As I already had 22mm full-bore valves valves and a bypass plumbed up ready I opted for just the flexible connectors. It looks like I'm going to have to have to get 2 x 22mm washingmachine type connectors anyway as I can't see a way of joining the flexible connectors to the pipe without them.

What are the 2 blue washers for Calvin ?

I've no idea! It was a while ago and from memory I just had four black rubber washers..

Sorted. All installed and we now have lovelly slippery water. :¬)

I wondered down to B&Q warehouse with pipe in hand and eventually worked out I needed a 3/4 threaded bit converting to a 22mm. The only fitting I could find with enough length to lock-down onto the nut was a 3/4 to 22mm copper pushfit at the horrendous price of £7.15 per fitting !!

Anyway, worked brilliantly and the pushfit was actually a bonus as it allowed a bit more joint manipulation and pipe rotation once coupled.

I've set the dishwasher to 0 so no softener and had a nice hot and soft shower just to test it out. :¬)

Brilliant. I'll wait to after April then probabally get another one the same to fit in the flat above our shop where I do all our laundry as my partner was extemely sensitive skin so the less detergent the better.

Thanks for your help and everyone that recommended the unit all those years ago, it's brilliant.
