Fixing coving to a house with concrete walls

Nov 07, 2004 3 Replies

Tried and failed today to fix coving in my daughter's house, where the walls are cast concrete. I couldn't do what I would normally do, which is to put nails in below the cove to take the weight whilst the adhesive dries, or my other practice, which is to use panel pins driven through the cove and buried below the surface of the coving. The walls are just too bloody hard, with very, very little plaster skim.

Ideas?

Prop it up with bits of 2x2?

My mate swears by the Screwfix coving adhesive in the tubes to fit a mastic gun. He says you only have to hold it for a few secs, then it sticks. Much better than no nails, can't believe it's not nails etc.
