Filling Above Stringer

Apr 23, 2009 1 Replies

Hi all

If I'm right, the plank that's fixed to the wall which forms the side of the staircase is called the stringer?

Having removed wall paper and loose stuff above, there is now a 3-6mm gap between the top edge of the stringer and the cementy plaster coming down the wall to meet it. The loose stuff that fell out to generate the gap in the first place looked like weak bond plaster. What can I use to fill this

10-15mm deep 3-6mm wide gap that will bond well and finish smooth/level for painting? I don't like the idea of quadrant beads or similar in this situation.

TIA
