Fan oven fan not working

We have a Neff fan oven, about 5 years old. The fan has stopped running, so we can't use the fan setting.

It was serviced a couple of years ago when this happened before, and the service engineer just lubricated it, and it worked until recently.

Does anybody know if this something that can be diy fixed, or will I have to pay for a professional service? Any ideas what sort of lubricant to use (presumably graphite-based), or where I can get it?.

On a similar situation why dont oven manfrs make their ovens so that you can have the choice of fan or non-fan . Would it be easy to adapt the oven so the fan didnt work .?? Stuart

I don't know if it is ball or sintered bearings, so I can't say whether he was an idiot or not. (Lubricating ball bearings washes out the grease)

It's easy to damage the air rotor if you don't know what you're doing.

First check that you don't have any broken wires, and that you do have power to the windings, if it's not something silly, then if you send it to me, I'll see what I can do with it

Our Neff fan stopped while it was still under warranty. The engineer came and replaced it and let slip that it was a design problem that Neff knew about. About 12 months later (now out of warranty) it stopped again and when I dismantled it, the bearings were full of charred grease. I washed it out with WD40 and it worked well for a while and then stopped again (no lubricant). This time I washed it out again with WD40 and then filled the bearings with high melting point grease(Castrol). It hasn't stopped since. I'm quite prepared to keep on doing this rather than pay for another motor (>£60) until I really have to. You will need some hex security bits to get the back off and remember the fan needs to come off from inside the oven and that the nut has a left hand thread. Best of luck.
