eat or millet
Maybe you missed this bit:
What makes you think anything of mine is conventional?
wheat or millet
is anyone?
my bottles are plastic.
how on earth is that more practical than bunging the bottle in a microwave?
What, I've wasted 0.375p to avoid pouring hot water around the place? Oh no !
People do so all the time. Most aren't especially practical or clueful abou t product safety. Had you really not noticed?

You can get gel filled things that are designed for microwaves though I don't think they store as much heat as water.
My late Dad never got the hang of the microwave so the one I bought for Mother did not last long, Dad mistook the minute and hour settings. The "Bottle" exploded after about 5 minutes and the mess almost buggered up the microwave.

As it happens, bought one of those yesterday!
Be interesting to see how long it lasts and is it hot enough?
Easily hot enough. And the quote above mine says 'last few years'.
Strangely, we also bought a Dreamland Intelliheat a week or so ago. It is for son's use, and he is delighted, so far.
This will be the 3rd year mine has come out the draw still working fine and at max setting (6) I find it too hot after ~15mins of being on.
Is this an overblanket?

and at max setting (6) I find it too hot after ~15mins of being on.
No fleeced underblanket, not sure what's called, but claimed to be intel igent it has 6 heat setting on each side (double) and two timing options of 1 hour and 9 hours. The handsets have a orange backlight that illuminates the digets of 1-6 and another for 1 or 9 hours. When it switches of a blue indicator comes on.
