Ebay again

Sorry to raise this again, and even more sorry not to have anything positive to say, but......... I'm afraid that my previous message here about alternatives to ebay threw up nothing that got me enthusiastic. What I'm advertising is fairly specialist - eg an old laptop with a broken screen or a different old laptop with a good, fairly rare screen, but that might have a dodgy mainboard - so ebay was the ideal platform. I've just sold something else to a "suspicious buyer", so for the umpteenth time the sale was just cancelled and all evidence removed. I had some buyer requirements (must have a Paypal account and must have a credit card registered with them) but, after spending over an hour on the phone with support (whose computer system was playing up), we discovered that the requirements had disappeared from my account and did not now exist in the account options. This seemed as big a surprise to support as it was to me. I have still had no report back from my Level 2 support query about Buy it Now being added to auctions automatically. In short, I now think the time is right for a new auction site to start and try to build towards what ebay once was. We are trying to clear space urgently because we are trying to cope with a full time nursing need for a relative, and ebay has become almost unusable.

When it is something difficult to dispose of, it's a trade between that cost to you and any hassle giving it away. And don't most Know that. ;-)

I'm afraid IME, the effort involved in Freegling things nearly always exceeds the effort of disposing of it. In the case of the greenhouse, the skip is already on site ...
