Drill holes in copper cylinder pipes so rayburn will work?

Your Rayburn is basically an oven with a boiler stove attached or boiler stove with an oven attached ,take your pick.

This site has a lot of advice and drawings of how to go about things in various configurations.

The lid is intended to keep wildlife out and steam in, its not airtight. Having said that you will need a hole to enable the vent pipe to enter it.

The feed and expansion pipe connects to close to the bottom of the header tank. The vent pipe then loops over the top.

The F&E pipe will be below the water level - it should always be covered. The vent will typically pass higher than the highest part of the system. If all you are heating is the cylinder, then the header tank can be pretty much straight above it, and the vent loop 6" over the top of that.

It is usually best to have the expansion pipe enter the tank close to the side of the tank. That makes it easy to just cut a slot in the lid, rather than a hole and makes the lid much simpler to take off completely for servicing. With just a hole in the lid, the lid has to be slid up the expansion pipe.
