An allegation of corruption just casually thrown in with no evidence ("obviously on the take"). That kind of talk can ruin a person's career! I know of no BCO who's ever accepted any kind of bribe. Any improprietary that can be proven does lead ultimately to the sack.

Those three lines show a complete misunderstanding of Building Control. It isn't Planning Permission. If a plan complies with the technical guidance of the Building Regulations, it MUST be approved. It's not a matter for public debate. Why would people wish to carry out building work that didn't financially benefit them?
