DIY Plastering Easy Peesy

Hello All

Just been on an awesome two day plastering course and would recommend it to any DIY'er who hasn't decided to take the leap into plastering yet, like myself. It was a great laugh, tutors were excellent and it was very satisfying when those trowel marks just disappeared like magic! :)

Anyway highly recommend it. I am now ready to tackle the whole upstairs with confidence knowing that I can make a good job of it. It really was easier than I thought it would be.

So what was the secret?

Well, I like giving Spouse unusual birthday presents - whale watching under the midnight sun, a flying lesson in a Tiger Moth, a day's course in flint knapping, that sort of thing. I think he might like a plastering course, it's one thing he can do adequately but not perfectly and it irritates him (I don't care). So I'm interested - but we're almost exactly half way between Dumfries and Bedford - is there anyone round here who could put him up for a night?

I dont think there really is a secret as such but just knowing you are using the right technique helps and gives that confidence, it did me anyway. I guess the most important part is timing though making sure you trowel out at the right times etc. I have just finished skimming three walls today and gees the last one had me panicing a bit and I very nearly cocked it up, I got it round in the end though.
