I may be mad but . . .
Is there something equivelant to descaler you use in kettles to use on surfaces where liquid would run - hence a gel or similar ?
thanks

Yup.Kilrock Gel, you should be able to get it at a good 'old fashioned' ironmonger if you have one near you, otherwise google for kilrock. They do (or did) mail order.

Fernox do a paste in a tub as well....
Do these sort of things contain a corrosion inhibitor? My wife used kettle descaler on chrome bathroom fittings, which then severely pitted and had to be replaced. Has anyone else had problems like that?
Perhaps I should get a magnetic descaler (ducks quickly)

Also LimeLite gel, available in the cleaning materials section of my local Tesco. It is not a thick gel so runs a little.

i get the kilrock liquid from robert dyas (top store)

Superdrug do an own brand viscous liquid limescale remover. Works quite well, cheaper than any other brands that I had seen.
