Generally only men understand intermediate positions of rotary controls.
Thermostats, Cookers, heavily closed taps .... whatever makes it "go or stop urgently, you stupid machine" is the setting that should be used. Anything else is superfluous nonsense.
So women are digital and men are analogue .
