A football star has won a legal battle against electrical giant Currys after a deadly tumble dryer fitting ?could have killed? his fiancee and children.
The allegedly unqualified engineer was sent by the electrical firm?s Team Know How on February 28.
Lucy, 35, said: ?It could have killed my girls. It?s terrifying to think what could have happened. They sent someone who didn?t have a clue what he was doing, he cut a live wire and the power throughout the entire house went off.
Lucy added: ?The electrician told us that, if the power hadn?t gone off once the live wire was cut, then if me or one of the girls had gone and touched that tumble dryer or put on a load, we could have been killed.?
A Currys spokeswoman said: ?We investigated the matter. It seems there was a pre-existing issue with the electrical wiring in Ms Patterson?s home, which meant it was impossible to safely install the tumble dryer.
?When the installer inadvertently cut a wire, the customer?s electrics did not operate as might usually be expected. [not sure if there should have been a comma there.]
?Ms Patterson was advised to find a domestic electrician to verify the electrical safety of the house.
?The tumble dryer was left safely disconnected and could not have resulted in any harm to the customer or her family.?
But it is a warning to people who fit things for other people.
