Hi On motor bikes and cars the exposed parts tend to corrode. Bikes are particularly bad as they are more exposed. What is the best way to prevent this being a problem.
Is spreading a film of LM grease a good idea or is that the stuff that goes solid and Makes it harder to take apart later. regular oiling or wd40. What works?

ACF50 has many good reports. Spray it on at the start of the claggy season, wipe it off at the end; shiny stuff underneath still shiny.

Not used it personally though but I know a few who have and are impressed.
LM grease will emulsify (absorb water) and while it may contain corrosion inhibitors these will eventually be consumed. It won't go solid (but nuts underneath it may rust). In my experience vaseline is likely to be better.
There's no simple single solution because there are different sorts of "exposure". Waxoyl or regular spraying with oil or WD40 may help.
