I've just bought a Manrose multifit gravity shutter grille from Screwfix to replace an old broken grille. It is supposed to be compatible with round 100mm ducting hose which is what I have, but whereas for the old grille the hose just pushed on with a tight enough fit to hold it, the hose just falls off this new grille. I've tried using a cable tie to secure it but I just can't get it to stay on. The connector end of the grille is just not deep enough and is in 4 sections instead of a complete circle. Have I just bought the wrong type of grille or what?

Worm-drive hose clamp (two or more in series if you can't find a single one long enough)? Small SS screws? Pop-rivets?
Assume you are putting the hose over the grill fitting? Have you tried squeezing it inside the grill fitting maybe "tightening" the wire of the hose to do so? As it springs back it might hold a bit better. Then gaffer tape it on?
Is that the metal hose, or the plastic one with a spring in it?
Can you put a very liberal squodge of something sticky around the pipe bit of the grill before you slip the hose over it? Frame mastic, silicone sealant, hot melt glue? Once you have it stuck in a couple of places it may be easier to get cable ties on, or as someone else suggested a hose clamp / jubilee clip sort of thing.
Wind a few turns of tape around the spigot to increase the diameter. Then fit the duct and tape that on.
