Cistern issue.

Hi All,

The cistern flush in our loo stopped working this morning. Its a modern style with a pair of silver buttons placed in the middle of the cistern lid. There seems to be no resistance when you push the buttons so Im guessing would that maybe the float inside is stuck or something. The problem is that I dont know how to remove the cistern lid. I dont want to force it in case I break something. The lid doesnt just lift off as with the old style side handle loos. It looks as though the button assembly comes with it. Anybody any ideas? Do I just pull the lid up?

Thanks, Matthew

Can you unscrew the button assembly by turning the button surround anti-clockwise?

On mine you just lift the lid. Then unhook the chain. However, in your case, I suspect the "unhook the chain" step has already been undertaken. ;-)

Christian.

Press one button down and prise the other one off - a bit stiff. With both buttons removed a screw will be revealed.

Not obvious it took me some time to prise hard enough - but it was a rented house.
