Gradually working my way round my new (to me) bungalow when I noticed the chimney in the lounge was blocked off. I removed the piece of hardboard followed by a month's supply of rolled up newspapers, half a bucket of dirt and a couple of bird skeletons and decide it needs a sweep.
Followed up the second recommendation from our local FB group (the first turned out to be Checkatrade and didn't bother to reply) and he can come in two weeks and it's £50 assuming no problems but may be more if there are blockages in the chimney, but £100 absolute maximum.
Wow, a contractor who called me back promptly, can do the work fairly soon, reasonable price with a cap. Makes such a change from the door knockers and the cowboys who did my garden.
