Frankly a pair of 2TB SSDs will cost about £200 if you go for reliable and slow.
Back one up to the other every night, and when one fails or starts to fail, replace it and copy back from the other one.
Apart from one strange failure in a brand new SSD, I have had no issues whatsoever with mine.
F*ck 'the cloud'
I don't trust it with my data at all.
There's something to be said for media that doesn't last forever, so you can start over.
Think of the library of Alexandria, or the nice man in Fahrenheit 451 (movie).
The main advantage of "the cloud" is that it's off premises. If my house catches fire, I'll be saving myself - not my storage discs.
I keep copies of important data in a storage facilities some distance away.
If my house catches fire my server wont be on my priority list
